Dennis Wong

Dennis Wong is the Southworth Group Sales and Marketing Specialist with over thirty years in business management, marketing, marketing communications, and marketing technologies, with a heavy emphasis in Marketing Research and new ways of garnering customer insights.

Dennis has broad B2B and B2C business experience as a product manager, brand manager, and marketing director of a leading consumer services company. He also has entrepreneurial experiences working on established businesses and start-ups, most notable as President/CEO of Media Market Makers(tm) a wholly owned subsidiary of McCann Worldwide.

The last ten years, has found Dennis involved in the developing business-growth strategies and marketing programs heavily involved in the Internet and digital applications, with his constant companions being "solving marketing problems and increasing sales."

Dennis’ marketing career began as a product manager in a P&G-type system. He worked in all phases of Marketing including the design, development, and launch of new products and services. He spent his last three years at Cunard Lines as the Chief Marketing Officer with shared responsibilities for revenues and profits.

At the Interpublic Group of Agencies (IPG), he was Managing Director of the McCann-Erickson Venture Group. He was responsible for identifying, evaluating and investing in technology companies with marketing communications applications such as E Ink the developer of electronic ink technology for paper-like displays; Princeton Brand Econometrics the provider of marketing and sales forecasting models for the Healthcare Industry; and Zentropy now the interactive arm within the McCann Relationship Marketing unit.

Dennis is also a member of very prominent MIT's Media Lab where he was the company representative for McCann-Erickson, and still stays involved with the lab today. He was also involved in development and launching of ChatMine(tm) an internet based tool for measuring brand awareness within public chat rooms. As a business development consultant, Dennis is working on technology-enabled customer-centric lifestyle products and services that include:

  • a) Patient compliance and disease management programs that provide the mobile consumer with the right messages at the right times wherever they are;
  • b) Consumer communications models such as “alphabet-soup” TV applications, e.g., PVR, VOD, DVD, HDTV, and ITV that will result in a major sea change in the time and place shifting as controlled by the empowered consumer;
  • and
  • c) Research and information services that focus on consumer conversations in their own voice and environment in order to gain increased understanding and insights about client and competitive products and services.

Dennis is a native of Hawaii and earned a BA from Northwestern University and an MBA from Michigan State University. He lives in Westport, Connecticut with his wife, Barbara, and daughter, Malia who will be entering Davidson College as a freshman in the Fall 2007.
